Make your reports irresistibly interesting - Emphasis

Make your reports overpoweringly intriguing Make your reports overpoweringly fascinating Individuals who are remarkably proficient lamentably have an unprecedented limit with regards to being exhausting. So when you’re composing reports, how would you ensure they confer all the data they have to, without taking care of the peruser? The chap in the image knows a tip or two, and very much return to him somewhat later. One thing that can make learned authors exhausting is an awkwardness in data among essayist and peruser. On the off chance that you know a great deal, and your peruser knows practically nothing, there is a peril of authentic over-burden. This can be dull. (In the event that the peruser is amiable, they will most likely call it ‘dense’ or ‘technical’ †at any rate to your face.) It’s setting that’s the issue. Setting is the medium inside which realities bode well. You, having inundated yourself contemplatively in your subject for a considerable length of time or years, are emphatically trickling with setting. Your peruser, encountering the subject just because, isn’t. Subsequently, what you may discover fascinating, they may discover rather dry. As an inquiry setter for the BBC test show Mastermind, I’m routinely went up against by this sort of lopsidedness. I remain by the rule that information is rarely exhausting. To the individuals who know everything to think about their authority subject, it’s all fascinating: when you realize that Joseph Gayetty is said to have imagined the principal business tissue in 1857, it’s intriguing that Emperor Hongwu of China was requesting specially designed bathroom tissue for the magnificent court, harking back to the fourteenth century. At the point when you realize that, in cricket, the googly is typically conveyed out of the rear of the bowler’s hand, it’s intriguing that the Australian Jack Iverson figured out how to convey it from between his thumb and pointer. Each field of attempt and each segment of business is loaded down with this kind of arcana. Not all realities are similarly intriguing So how would you convince your perusers that they should discover these things similarly as intriguing as you do? It’s not tied in with settling on exactness. Without trustworthiness, without a promise to the realities, your reports won’t carry out the responsibility you need them to do. Putting peruser bid before precision may suit a newspaper paper, however it’s essentially foolish when your essential objective is successful correspondence. Rather, it’s about recognizing the components of your report or recommendation that can prosper without an encouraging group of people of nurturing setting. We may call them ‘mudskippers’, after the fish that can inhale and move around ashore just as submerged. How would you detect a mudskipper? Let’s state I have space in my report for 50 realities. Let’s state that the focal, basic message of my report establishes 20 of these. These are the realities that essentially need to go in, ditchwater-dull or mudskipper-intriguing, and that’s fine †this is a business report, all things considered. What we’re examining here are those other 30 realities, the data that involves your supporting contention and transforms a distinct rundown of bring home explanations into a successful and completely adjusted report. This is the place your mudskipper-spotting abilities can have the effect. As a proficient individual, you’re in the advantaged position of having the option to see the goings-on behind the green blind. You’re the scuba jumper who can see the immense, energetic coral atoll that to the aircraft traveler flying overhead is only a grim bollard in the sea. This advantaged position is hard-earned †however it’s one you need to give up on the off chance that you need to work superbly of conveying your mastery. You need to swallow the unpalatable reality that, to your perusers, not all realities are similarly fascinating. You’ll before long see how Charles Darwin felt when, subsequent to going through decades setting up himself as an untouched world master on barnacles, all anybody at any point needed to get some information about was On The Origin Of Species. It’s baffling, yet it’s fundamental. Step by step instructions to detect a mudskipper Mudskippers †those adaptable thoughts that don’t die when taken outside of any relevant connection to the issue at hand †needn’t be shocking. On the off chance that they are, treat them with extraordinary alert. Also, they shouldn’t be unimportant. They should enable the peruser to comprehend your message, however, similarly as significantly, they should make the peruser need to comprehend. They’ll regularly leap out at you during the examination procedure. They may be of an alternate class to the encompassing data (a name, instead of a number, say). They may have a hinterland (authentic, land, cross-sectoral). They may present a component of mankind (a citation may here and there be a mudskipper). Mudskippers are realities with flavor. They’re what might be compared to umami †that fifth kind of appetizing difficult to-portray ‘meatiness’ †the quality that makes everything simply that bit more moreish. Information is power. Yet, just when you realize how to utilize it.

What to Expect When Seeing a Doctor for Depression

In fact, depression is one of the most common chronic health conditions listed by doctors on their patients medical records. While depression is common, if you think you have it, you may be unsure about where to begin. Here are the steps to getting your mental health treated, so you can feel well. Seeing Your Primary Care Doctor If you suspect you may have depression, your first visit should be to your family or  primary care physician  for a thorough checkup. While most doctors do screen for depression, its best to be forward and tell your doctor upfront your concerns about your mood.?? Your doctor is there to help you, so dont hold back. Questions Your Doctor May Ask How long have you been feeling sad or down? Are you sleeping more than usual or  having difficulty sleeping?  How is your appetite? Have you lost weight or gained weight? How is your energy level? Are you having trouble concentrating or making decisions?Do you think of death or have thoughts of suicide?   Your answers to these questions (and others) will help your doctor pinpoint whether or not you have major depressive disorder, often referred to simply as depression. Before confirming a diagnosis, however, your doctor will need to rule out other health problems as there are symptoms of several medical conditions that can mimic those of depression. This is especially true in older adults with new-onset depression. Some of these health conditions include:?? Vitamin deficiencies (for example, vitamin B12 deficiency)AnemiaLow blood sugarHypothyroidismCalcium or other electrolyte abnormalitiesKidney or liver problems While blood tests cannot be used to diagnose depression, they may be ordered by your doctor to rule out some of these above conditions. Less commonly, an imaging test may be ordered, like a brain  MRI, to rule out structural brain diseases, like stroke, especially if there are neurological signs upon physical examination or evidence of cognitive problems. Some medications may also cause symptoms of depression as a side effect. Be sure to tell your doctor all of the medications you are taking, including both prescription and over-the-counter drugs. Lastly, its worthy to note that sometimes other mental health conditions can be difficult to tease apart from depression.?? For instance, bipolar disorder  may be misdiagnosed initially as depression. Often this misdiagnosis occurs because symptoms of mania may be overlooked, as depressive symptoms  are the ones that feel so bad and first prompt the doctor visit. Substance use, either intoxication or withdrawal, can also cause symptoms that overlap with depression. Try to remain patient as your doctor sorts through your symptoms. Warning Signs That You Might Be Depressed Referral to a Mental Health Professional After a complete medical history and physical examination, if your doctor diagnoses you with depression, you may then be referred to a  mental health professional, like a psychiatrist.?? The role of a psychiatrist is to further evaluate your mood and determine whether or not medication is needed.  If you would also benefit from  psychotherapy  (research suggests that the combination of medication and therapy is most effective for treating depression), psychiatrists are generally able to handle this as well, although some may elect to refer you to another mental health professional, like a psychologist.?? While some people will do fine being treated by their primary care physician, others may benefit from seeing a psychiatrist especially if symptoms are not improving with the first trial of an antidepressant or the depression is severe from the start. If you are diagnosed with depression, its prudent to start with, or at least get a referral to, a mental health professional. The Best Online Help Resources for Depression Treatment of Depression Is Complex Its important to note the treatment of depression is not as simple as receiving a prescription for  Prozac (fluoxetine).  The individual causes of depression are diverse and poorly understood. The medications used to treat it are just as diverse, so matching a drug with an individual is not a clear-cut decision.?? A persons specific symptoms, co-existing illnesses, tolerance of side effects, and medications previously tried are just a few factors that are considered when your doctor chooses your antidepressant.?? Also, treatment can take some time. While many people begin to feel better within one to two weeks, it can take six to twelve weeks to feel the full effect of your medication. Even so, be sure to follow closely with your doctor, especially if you are experiencing bothersome side effects. Also, if you are noticing very little or no improvement in your symptoms after two to four weeks, your doctor may increase your dose, add another medication to increase its effect, or switch your medication.?? Depression is not a sign of weakness or laziness. Its a sign that something is out of balance. What Does Racism Actually Mean Essay - 1050 Words

No one is born racist! Racism is something learned. We aren’t necessarily taught to discriminate, however naively we learn that there are different kinds of people. By no means am I saying that all people are racist or that everyone has the same beliefs. It’s just that the older we get we come to learn that even if we don’t agree with racism it’s a very big issue around the world. My question is â€Å"what does racism actually mean?† While some believe that superiority, whiteness, and overall white supremacy construct racism, in my personal opinion racism means ignorance, self-doubtfulness, and obliviousness. To most people racism means white supremacy because that’s what we’re taught in school. They teach us about all the power that the whites had over the blacks. We learn about slavery and many tragic events. And although we learn about African Americans overcoming all the tragedies and making a lot of great changes, for some reason we learn to see things differently. At a very young age we start to learn about hatred and discrimination. As we grow older and experience more we realize that not a lot has changed. We might not have slavery anymore, but there is still just as much hatred in the world. Its never going to end. There will always be people that are going to feel superior, and that’s what racism is. It’s not just about skin pigmentation. As much as I believe that we’re all created equally and that the only race is the human race, not everyone agrees. â€Å"Race isShow MoreRelatedSports Logo868 Words   |  4 Pagesstates that the use of thes e religious symbols or spiritual leaders as sports logos is offensive. Analyses of Little Red Cap Story Free Essays

Almost the whole story takes place somewhere in a village surrounded by dense forests. Story is set rather in the past time, but as I see it, it’s imaginative which makes it impossible to decide really when this actually occurred. Nature is well described and there are even some good detail descriptions. We will write a custom essay sample on Analyses of Little Red Cap Story or any similar topic only for you Order Now For instance; â€Å"†¦. sunbeams dancing here and there through the trees†, which made the best impression on me. Description of the nature was undeniably very important. Mainly because I think that by describing the nature well, the writer wanted to scare kids away from lonely forests. Little Red-cap can be described as a young, innocent girl that is going trough a period of time, where everything seems right. She seems to be well nurtured, which is shown in the text when she accepts her moms favor. In the same time she makes some bad decisions (ex. letting the wolf know everything) which shows her obvious immaturity. She is loved by everyone. The relationship between her and the grandmother are maybe strongest one of them all. If she really develops at the end the story is hard to say. It is true that she says in the very last lines of the text that she will from now on listen better to her mother. However, story ends with little Red-cap saying this, so what she actually does afterwards remain unknown. Symbols can be seen from different perspectives. According to me Little red-cap represents a immature human being, with proper behavior but also with a lack of knowledge. Unable to see evil herself, she opens herself up, and gives information to others, not thinking about the possible consequences. Wolf is the â€Å"unseen† evil, that represents trouble for the human being. The huntsman represents help. He is mature and he is aware of evilness. In a way he could be seen as God. He is giving the human being a second chance. Although the wolf caused trouble for the human being, in a way he helped her. Without him and his acts, the human being would perhaps still make same mistakes, which is, not listening to elders. The language used in the story is a bit odd and old. The writer used words like whither, craftily, nosegay, thou, thee. I didn’t found it hard to read, but I believe that the story could be a bit more interesting if the writer used more modern and frequent words and phrases. The good thing about the text is that it was both narrative and had some dialogues in it. It is more interesting that way. The story is not exactly emotional, neither is the used language. This however doesn’t stop it from being a good version of Little Red Ridding Hood. When I read this fairy tale I didn’t felt anything, simply because of the fact that it is a fairy tale. In the mean time it made me think about my childhood and the days when I was sitting in front of TV for hours, watching Little Red Ridding Hood. I remember it was one of my absolute favorite fairy tales. It felt nice to rewind that time. Right now, I don’t really have much to say about it. I personally haven’t learnt anything about life by reading this fairy tale now, but I know that it changed my thinking when I read it and saw it on TV as a child. Little Red RiddingHood is a great fairy tale for kids because in the same time as it entertains it is informing kids to be more careful with the strangers. Not only that, it also conveys a message that if you don’t want to get in trouble, then you should listen to elders and be more obedient. How to cite Analyses of Little Red Cap Story, Essay examples

Computer Crime Essay Paper Example For Students

Computer Crime Essay Paper Computer CrimeIts the weekend, you have nothing to do so you decide to play around on your computer. You turn it on and then start up, you start calling people with your modem, connecting to another world, with people just like you at a button press away. This is all fine but what happens when you start getting into other peoples computer files. Then it becomes a crime, but what is a computer crime really, obviously it involves the use of a computer but what are these crimes. Well they are: Hacking, Phreaking, ; Software Piracy. To begin I will start with Hacking, what is hacking. Hacking is basically using your computer to Hack your way into another. They use programs called scanners which randomly dials numbers any generating tones or carriers are recorded. These numbers are looked at by hackers and then used again, when the hacker calls up the number and gets on hes presented with a logon prompt, this is where the hacking really begins, the hacker tries to bypass this anyway he knows how to and tries to gain access to the system. Why do they do it, well lets go to a book and see Avid young computer hackers in their preteens and teens are frequently involved in computer crimes that take the form of trespassing, invasion of privacy, orvandalism. Quite often they are mearly out for a fun and games evening, and they get entangled in the illegal use of their machines without realizing the full import of what they are doing , I have a hard time believing that so lets see what a hacker has to say about what he doe s Just as they were enthraled with their pursuit of information, so are we. The thrill of the hack is not in breaking the law, its in the pursuit and capture of knowledge. , as you can see the hacker doesnt go out to do destroy things although some do.Its in the pursuit of knowledge. Of course this is still against the law. But where did all of this start, MIT is where hacking started the people there would learn and explore computer systems all around the world. In the views of professional hacking is like drugs or any other addictive subezce, its an addiction for the mind and once started its difficult to stop. This could be true, as hackers know what they are doing is wrong and they know odds are they will be caught. But as I mentioned some hackers are just above average criminals, using there skills to break in banks and other places where they can get money, or where they can destroy information. What a hacker does at a bank is take a few cents or even a few fractions of a cents from many different accounts this may seem like nothing but when all compiled can be alot.A stick up robber averages about $8,000 each job, and he has to put his life and personal freedom on the line to do it while the computer hacker in the comfort of his own living room averages $500,000 a job.As for people destroying information, this is for taking some one down, destruction of data could end a business which for some is very attractive. It can cost a company thousands of dollars to restore the damage done. A true phreakerwill not go against his fellows or narc on people who haveragged on him or do anything termed to be dishonourable tophreaks. freekn. 3. A certain code or dialup useful in the action of being a phreak. (Example: I hacked a new metro phreak last night.) The latter 2 ideas of what a phreak is, is rather weird.A Phreak like the hacker likes to explore and experiment, however his choice of .. exploring is not other computer but the phone system as a whole. Phreaks explore the phone system finding many different ways to do things, most often make free calls. Why do they do this, A hacker and phreaker will have need to use telephone systems much more than an average individual, therefore, methods which can be used to avoid toll charges are in order. . A phreak has two basicways of making free calls, he can call up codes or PBXs on his phone and then enter a code and make his call or he can use Electronic Toll Fraud Devices.Codes are rather easy to get the phreak will scan for them, but unlike a hacker will only save the tone(s) number instead of the carrier(s). Then he will attempt to hack the code to use it, these codes range from numbers 0 9 and can be any length, although most are not more than 10.Electronic Toll Fraud Devices are known as Boxes in the underground. Most are the size of a pack of smokes, or than can be smaller or bigger.I will not go too deep. They are el ectronic devices than do various things, such as make outgoing calls free, make incoming calls free, simulate coins dropping in a phone, etc.People who Phreak are caught alot these days thanks to the new technology. Software Piracy is the most common computer crime, it is the illegal coping of software.People wouldnt think of shoplifting software from a retail store, but dont think twice about going home and making several illegal copies of the same software.and this is true because I myself am guilty of this. The major problem is not people going out and buying the software then making copies for everyone, its the Bulletin Boards that cater to pirating software, that really cause the problem. On anyone one of these boards one can find an upwards of 300 1000+ of pirated software open for anyone to take. This is a problem and nothing can really be done about it.Few arrests are made in this area of computer crime. I will now devote a brief section to the above mentioned BBS , most are legal and do nothing wrong. However there are many more that do accept pirated software, pornographic pictures, animations , and texts. As well as a trading area for phone codes, other BBS, Credit Card numbers, etc. This is where a majority of Hackers and Phreaks come, as well as those who continue to pirate software come to meet and share stories. In this is a new world, where you can do anything, there are groups that get, crack, and courier software all over the world some of them are called:INC: International Network Of Crackers, THG: The Humble Guys, TDT: The Dream Team.As well a number of other groups have followed suit such as Phalcon/SKISM (Smart Kids Into Sick Methods), NuKE, and YAM (Youngsters Against McAfee) these are virus groups who write and courier their work anywhere they can, they just send it somewhere, where anyone can take it and use it in any manner they wish, such as getting even with someone. All of these activities are illegal but nothing can be done, the people running these boards know what they are doing. As it ezds right now, the BBS world is in two parts Pirating and the Underground, which consists of Hackers/Phreaks/Anarchists/Carders(Credit Card Fraud)/Virus programmers. All have different boards and offer a variety of information on virtually any subject. .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 , .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 .postImageUrl , .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 , .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36:hover , .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36:visited , .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36:active { border:0!important; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36:active , .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36 .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u14ecb2cb7ae405e3bdddd3d83ffa6b36:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: 1929 Stock Market Crash Essay Well from all of this reading you just did you should have a fairly good idea of what computer crime is.I didnt mention it in the sections but the police, phone companies are arresting and stopping alot of things every day. With the new technology today it is easier to catch these criminals then it was before. With the exception of the BBS the police have made some major blows busting a few BBS, arresting hackers and phreaks. All of which were very looked up to for knowledge in their areas of specialty. If I had more time I could go into these arrests but I must finish by saying that these are real crimes and the sentences are getting harsher, wi th alot of the older people getting out the newer people are getting arrested and being made examples of.This will deter alot of would-be computer criminal away.

Oscar Schindler Essays - Amon Gth, Rescue Of Jews In The Holocaust

Oscar Schindler Oskar Schindler would never have been anyones ideal savior, especially for the Jewish community. He was an open member of the Nazi party, a womanizer, a gambler, an alcoholic, and was extremely money hungry, but was successfully able to rescue and save from death over twelve hundred Jewish men and women. Schindler was born on April 28th, 1908 in Zwittua, Czechoslavakia. He was born Catholic and into a wealthy family, but started early on a life of sin. In 1930 he moved to Poland in hopes of becoming a success in business. As the Holocaust was just in its beginnings, he was able to get his hands on an enamel wear factory on Lapowa Street in in Krakow. This was one of the factories that used to owned and ran by a Jewish individual, but was then stripped away from them like all other businesses that were stolen away from the Jewish people during the Holocaust. The location of the factory was only a few miles away from the ghettos. Schindler quickly moved in on the SS officers and tried to make close ties with them in order to gain connections with high authority. He showered them with women, money, alcohol, and other desired objects. From his new acquaintances he obtained free employment from the Jewish slaves of the labor camps. In order to keep his factory and the money he was making, Schindler changed his factory to cater to wartime needs. The factory was modified from producing enamel wares to ammuntion, but the ammunition was faulty and did not work. Schindler was now making a large amount of profits, but he noticed that all his money was going into saving and caring for his Schindlerjuden or Schindlers children. The Schindlerjuden were always treated humanely. They were a;ways fed, never beaten, and none were ever killed. He told the officers that the skills his workers possessed were essential to the factory and were necessary to keep it running. Although Schindler was considered a war hero, after the war he had difficulty keeping a good business and was not exactly held in high favor among certain people. In 1949, after the war, he, his wife Emilie, and his mistress moved to Argentina. While staying in Argentina, he attempted to keep a nutria farm and also opened a cement factory in Germany. In order to run a successful factory or farm, he needed free labor which he lacked and therefore both businesses were a failure. After those failed attempts, he decided to go into film and became a film producer. That effort also ended in failure. In 1958, Schindler left noth his wife and mistress and moved back to Germany. He then called upon his Schindlerjuden to help him in his period of financial distress. They sent him money and support. In the early 1960s, he took a break from his poverty and visited Israel. All the survivors and their families welcomed him with warmness, love, and gratitude. After this visit, he continually made o ne six-week visit to Israel every year, which was fully paid for by his Schindlerjuden. Many of Oskar Schindlers efforts were not appreciated until he was deceased. In praise, many authors and film producers have documented his life. Thomas Keneally is one other that has recorded his life in a best selling book that is taught to British school students. Steven Spielberg also made it into an Academy Award winning movie called Schindlers List. Until this day, nobody understands or can grasp why Oskar Schindler would risk his life for the Jewish people, but perhaps that was his time of extraordinary bravery, courage, and strength. He dies in Frankfurt, Germany in 1974, but his last wish was to be buried in Israel. After his death, his body was moved to a Roman Catholic Cemetery in Mount Zion, where he spends eternity with the people whom loved, cared for, and owed their lives to him. History

Large proportion of the population Essays

Large proportion of the population Essays Large proportion of the population Essay Large proportion of the population Essay Women are also affected by the social class idea which means that they are not only discriminated against because of their sex but also if for example, they are in a lower class, they will be at even more of a disadvantage due to the cost of participation and the amount of free time they have available. Conflicts theorists believe that the emphasis should be taken off the amount of money and commercialisation of sport and concentrate more onThe development of a humane and creative society, so that sport can become a source of expression, creative energy, and physical well-being (J.Coackley, 2003, page 41) It is important to remember that commercialism and sport are closely linked to media exposures which are also related to both the Feminist and Conflict approach to women in sporting society. Coackley (1994) suggested that for sports and business to flourish successfully together they need to be in market economies and in large densely populated cities. The attending spectators would also need the time, money and freedom of movement to attend such events. Whilst such a high standard of living is necessary so is an effective transportation system to ensure that spectators can get their chosen event. However, commercialization of sport is now more than just paying to spectate at events. It includes advertising, endorsements, buying clothing (leisure wear), sports goods and paying for participation. The sports council has estimated that half a million jobs in the UK are dependant on the sports business. All sports that are watchable have potential for commercial exploitation. (and that)Companies sponsor events to make money (Cashmore, 1996)Although there is a lot of money to be made in the commercialization of sport, there is an obvious difference between the male and female performers sponsorship and advertising schemes which links in with the media. Honeybourne et al (1996) define the media as: A form of mass communication, usually comprising the press, television and radio. The media has a direct influence on the values and morals of a society since it reaches such a large proportion of the populationAs this statement declares, the media plays a vital role in the sporting society. The feminist theory proposes that women dont get the publicity and consideration they deserve. This could also link back to fact that society sees Women as the weaker sex. An example of women being miss-interpreted is the female tennis player Anna Kournikova. Anna Kournikova has made more money out of advertising and modelling than she has out of tennis. Feminist theorists may believe that if Anna Kournikova was not as good looking and was not perceived as a sexy role model then she would not have made all that money.Where the emphasis is based on talent when it comes to males in sport, the emphasis is based more on good looks when it comes to females in sport. This is because a lot of people (males in most cases) who watch womens sport want them to look aesthetically pleasing to the eye. This is not always the case but you just have to look at an event, such as beach volleyball, to see that they have that dress code to boost ratings and publicity of the sport.Conflict theorists would say that some newspapers (mainly tabloids) are aimed at a certain social class. However, they can also be quite sexist when writing about sport as their target population is males buying sports specials on Saturday evenings to find the results written by male journalists. The feminist theory and the conflict theory do share some of the same thoughts as women and social class can link together. For example, women in middle-lower income families often feel the restraints of child nurture and homemaking.Without money to pay for child-care, domestic assistance, and sport participation costs, these women just dont have enough opportunities or time to play sport. Also they dont have access to the gyms and maybe cant afford the travel to get to the places where they want to play sports. Furthermore sports are usually social activities occurring among friends, and, if a womans friends dont have the facilities enabling them to play, she will have even fewer activities which would lead to her being less motivated for interest in participation. However, this is also true for men but men are more likely to have an arrangement of relationships from sport interest.Women in upper-income families frequently face a different state of affairs. They have the money and resources to pay for childcare, domestic assistance and sport participation. They often participate in sport activities by themselves, with friends, or with family members. They have social networks made up of other women who also have the resources to maintain high levels of sport participation. (J.Coackley 2003, page 336)Women who have been brought up in these families often have played sports during and since their childhoods and have attended schools with good sports programs; however, they have experienced the same constraints as their lower-income counterparts. Their opportunities are much greater than those of lower-income women, even though they may not be equal to those of upper-income men. (J.Coackley, 2003, page 338)However, these theories have their weaknesses. Both the conflict theory and feminist theory under-estimate the importance of other factors when it comes to explaining how people relate to others, organize social life and especially in terms of discrimination in sport. These other factors include race, ethnicity and age. Conflict theory also underestimates the value of gender and sexual orientation. Also the feminist approach under estimates the importance of social class, disability, religion and nationality. In conclusion, both the feminist and conflict theory produce good arguments about sports role in society; nonetheless, there is also evidence to show that they do not touch on other factors which are just as significant as their views. To gain a true understanding of sports role in society and also relate it to women in sport then all the theories should be revised before making an accurate opinion.

District Court or Circuit Court - Essay Example Falwell. However, it should be noted that Rev. Falwell had brought a complaint alleging that Mr. Lamparello was guilty of trademark infringement, which Rev. Falwell alleged was intellectual property that protected his website, as he had at least one registered trademark, even though it was not on the domain name www.falwell.com or www.fallwell.com (Atkinson, Sorkin, & Gold 2003). Rev. Falwell also stated that he had legal rights in the name â€Å"Falwell† which included â€Å"Listen America with Jerry Falwell†, a popular show, as well as a pending trademark on the name â€Å"Jerry Falwell†. He therefore requested relief in the form of www.fallwell.com being transferred from Mr. Lamparello to his ministries and control, on the grounds of trademark infringement, false designation of origin, unfair competition, and cybersquatting (Atkinson et. al. 2003). Mr. Lamparello filed suit in the Eastern District Court of Virginia, accusing Rev. Falwell and his ministry of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking in violation of the Anticybersquatting Protection Act (Lamparello v. Falwell, 2004). This suit was filed in accordance with the Uniform Domain Name Dispute-Resolution Policy, commonly known as UDRP, which states that â€Å"most types of trademark-based domain-name disputes must be resolved by agreement, court action, or arbitration† (Internet corporation for, 2011). The District Court ruled in favor of the defendant, finding that there was a likelihood of confusion based on the â€Å"distinctive and strong† presence of the Defendant’s trademark. The District Court also found trademark infringement was evident as the Defendant was able to prove that he did, indeed, have a registered trademark, and he had used that trademark. The appeals court, however, overturned the findings, stating that there was no trademark infringement or false designation of origin since Mr. Lamparello did not intend to make money from his website, and used it only for

Economics - Essay Example st be unfeasible to break the overall stock exchange market through market timing or expert stock selection, and the only solution to an investor for obtaining higher returns is by buying riskier investments. Efficient Market Hypothesis is divided into three types. These are strong, semi strong and weak. The weak Efficient Market Hypothesis theory says that prices on assets traded such as bonds, stocks, or property already show all past available information for public. The semi-strong Efficient Market Hypothesis states that prices in addition to reflecting publicly available past information also shows that prices constantly change to show new publicly available information. However, the strong Effective Market Hypothesis says that in addition to the above two types of information, prices also show â€Å"insider† information or hidden truths. Although Efficient Market Hypothesis is the foundation of the financial theory today, it is doubtful and highly uncertain. A large number of educational institutions are in favor of Efficient Market Hypothesis but an equivalent number of people are against it. For instance, Warren Buffet, an investor, has been beating the market for quite a long time now which is almost impracticable according to the theory of Efficient Market Hypothesis. Critics of the Efficient Market Hypothesis also draw our attention towards the event of 1987 and many as such when the stock price of Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) came down by 20% in one day as proof that stock prices can diverge to a large extent from their fair market values. There is also proof against and for strong, semi-strong and weak Effective Market Hypothesis. In an answer to the critics, the advocates of Effective Market Hypothesis claim that market efficiency does not ascertain complete certainty about the future but it is a generali zation of the financial market which may be false sometimes. However in practical, market is efficient for purposes of speculation for almost all

Dangers of Drinking and Driving for Teens

Dangers of Drinking and Driving for Teens America is a wonderful place where anyone can travel to have a nice vacation, but they can not do that safely if someone is drinking and driving. Drinking and driving can prevent many accidents while causing someone their life. Driving is an everyday routine for many people in the United States but driving while being intoxicated is becoming a fatal routine. Teenagers are typically inexperienced drivers when they get their first drivers license. Adults are more experienced drivers while being intoxicated but teenagers are more accurate of crashing while being intoxicated. The article Crash types; Markers of Increased. identifies, alcohol-related crash types for which teen drivers were at a greater risk compared with adults. This proves to teens that drinking and driving is a dangerous situation because it can cause serious injury or death. Decreasing the problem of drinking and driving for teenagers would decrease the death of lives. Most car accidents happen because of drunk drivers. If teens drink any type of alcohol it extends the risk of them putting their own selves in danger. According to the article Teens Drinking and Driving Less, Teens were responsible for approximately two point four million episodes of drinking and driving in a month in 2011. This proves that teens take an action of being irresponsible when it comes to drinking and driving. According to the authors (Beck, Shattuck, and Raleigh), The need to increase parents capacity to impose and enforce driving restrictions on provisionally licensed teen drivers is indicated. To prevent any type of car fatal crashes due with teens is that parents need to be involved and make rules when their child is driving on the road. Teenagers are not always mature enough to make their own decisions thats why parents need to be involved with their childs driving style. Parents who look out for their child are good parents because they need to get involved with their driving skills. Parents have the right to know where their child is at all times and the teenager needs to know what their parents expects from them. According to the article (Relation of Parent- Teen) it states, To determine the relations among parent-teen discordance for restrictions on driving conditions, driving rules, and consequences for rule violations at licensure and subsequent risky teen driving. This is the reason why teenagers should take a big responsibility while driving especially when they have a passenger in the seat. Parents who influence their child about having a safe strategy to drive will reduce teen car crash rates. Drinking and driving is not the right decision to make the consequences that come with it is not worth it. Killing innocent lives and injuring them as well will put others in a situation that they dont want to be in. People are allowed to drink but its always safer to have a designated driver to drive them home. To prevent drinking and driving everyone needs to let the world know the outcome behind it and how its a bad decisions. Teenagers can be very stubborn about this subject but its for their own good to get educated about it. It an issue for teenagers to drinking and drive because their reaction on the road at the moment is lowered and a greater risk of them getting into an accident. Knowing on how to save peoples lives and also not endangering them would bring a good awareness towards others. They dont really understand the hazards of drinking and driving as they consider themselves being untouchable to the society. Most minors may not think they are the only ones that get affected by being intoxicated while driving but the person who gave it to them or sold it gets in trouble as well. Each single harm or death caused by drinking and driving can be completely avoidable. The possibility of a teen driver being involved in a fatal crash rises significantly with a BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) of zero point five percent and even more rapidly after zero point eight percent. People need to be aware of what alcohol can cause and do to others. Its not only teenagers who have a problem with drinking and driving but alcohol affects a persons thought of train which likely makes them to make bad decisions, such as seating behind a wheel. There are several crowds out there to prevent this problem of drinking and driving. The two crowds are called M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) and S.A.D.D.s (Students Against Destructive Decisions). According to the authors (Loewit-Phillips, Patricia Melody) they state So effective has this organization been, that it is estimated that 94% of all Americans recognize MADDs name and are familiar with its purpose of changing national attitudes concerning driving while impaired or intoxicated This proves that the program influenced many people lives about drinking and driving. Most mothers care for their childs safety as the regards of driving sober or not. Taking this information from experienced drivers will impact anyones live if they accept it? In addition to that drinking and driving should not be allowed and everyone should be responsible and take careful actions upon themselves. Especially when you can put your own life in danger as well as others. Therefore, if someone drinks have a designated driver to prevent them to cause in accident. The main consequence that can go on someones record can be by drinking and driving is driving under the Influence (DUI). So everyone should be well educated enough to prevent not to have any type of alcohol related charges on them. In conclusion, drinking and driving is still a problem amongst teenagers which needs to be dealt with it now and in the future. Work Cited Beck, KH, T Shattuck, and R Raleigh. Odysseus- Character Comparison to the movie Essay

In comparing the blockbuster movie TROY to secondary sources found o the internet and in various texts, there are many significant differences in the portrayal of Odysseus and his involvement in Trojan War. In the movie, the first we see of Odysseus is when he’s sent by the Mycenaean King and conqueror of Greece, Agamemnon, to persuade Achilles to join the Greek war effort because, I quote, â€Å"Odysseus is the only man he’ll listen to†. The respect and belief placed in Odysseus further proves the amount of admiration Greeks hold in his ability as an eloquent speaker. In many of the texts, there is more to the pre-war story of Odysseus then mentioned in TROY. One commonly held belief is that Odysseus was one of the original suitors of Helen. He was the one that made all of her suitors swear to defend her marriage rights. However, when Menelaus called on the suitors to bring Helen back from Troy, Odysseus was reluctant to make good on his oath. In the sources Odysseus was one of the key Greeks involved in the Trojan War. He was, according to one text, to be â€Å"Outspoken and sincere, fierce and proud†. To another source, he was said to â€Å"Refuse to leave the field when the Greek troops were being routed by the Trojans. In contrast with the texts, the movie portrays very little of Odysseus’ involvement in battle and shows none of his efforts as a Greek ambassador. This is mentioned regularly in our sources, again referring to the amount of approbation the Greeks had for Odysseus’ capability to influence the minds of men. One of our sources mentions the bravery and courage Odysseus showed while trying to protect a dying Achilles. It states that Ajax, another Greek warrior, Achilles and Odysseus got inside the walls of Troy before the nocturnal raid of the Trojan horse. However in the movie it shows nothing of this event and many other minor occurrences and chooses to reveal Achilles’ death after the creation of the Trojan horse which is seen to be historically incorrect. Whilst comparing various texts to the movie itself only one major similarity was recognised. This being Odysseus’ involvement in the Trojan horse. In both the texts and the movie, Odysseus is portrayed to be the originator of the horse, the stratagem by which the Greeks were finally able to take the city of Troy. His cleverness and ingenuity is emphasised once again because of his ability to create such deceiving device that would in turn win the war for Greece.

Infections That Are Caused By Pathogens

Pathogens are microorganisms that cause diseases are called pathogens. They are specialised to infect the human body tissues where they reproduce and cause damage that gives rise to the symptoms of the infection although this may happen the body is very good at repairing itself as the body fights back by mobilising its immune system to fight of the infection.Infection is an invasion by a multiplication of pathogenic microorganisms in a bodily part or tissue which may produce subsequent tissue injury and progress to overt disease through a variety of cellar or toxic mechanismhere are some of the zones in the body showing how pathogens cause infections and diseasePathogenic microorganisms can be spread from person to person in a number of ways. Not all pathogens use all the available routes. For example, the influenza virus is transmitted from person to person through the air, typically via sneezing or coughing. But the virus is not transmitted via water. In contrast, Escherichia coli is readily transmitted via water, food, and blood, but is not readily transmitted via air or the bite of an insect. While routes of transmission vary for different pathogens, a given pathogen will use a given route of transmission. This has been used in the weaponisation of pathogens. The best-known example is anthrax. The bacterium that causes anthrax—Bacillus anthraces—can form an environmentally hardy form called a spore. The spore is very small and light.Pathogenic microorganisms can grow on currents of air and can be breathed into the lungs, where the bacteria resume growth and swiftly cause a serious and often fatal form of anthrax. ï » ¿Infections That Are Caused By Pathogens Pathogens are microorganisms that cause diseases are called pathogens. A Solution to the Population Problem - 1724 Words

Increasing importance has been placed upon population and population growth over the course of the past few centuries. Scientists are frenetically searching for the solution to this issue, and their outcomes are bleak. They are telling the world that if population growth does not slow, the earth will swell to a capacity too large to sustain itself and the conclusion will be apocalyptic. Explanations are numerous, however viable solutions are difficult to find. Adherents to the Malthusian theory, such as Garrett Hardin, author of the article There Is No Global Population Problem, believe that this extreme growth in population will hinder economic development, therefore the industrialized nations must fight to control the population†¦show more content†¦The biggest failure of Hardin’s argument of deglobalization is that he overlooks the real problem behind overpopulation in many of these countries, which is the consumption of resources by the Western world. â€Å" A population that is under 5% of the world’s population generates and consumes 25% of the global GNP† (Porter and Sheppard, 1998 Pg. 136) This rabid consumption by the most well off countries pushes the global south deeper into poverty, which is a root cause of population growth. Although Hardin admits â€Å"Americans are too comfortable to try hard to find an answer.† (Hardin 1989 Pg. 49) he neglects to mention that a good deal of the population problem is caused by the unceasing consumption by our country. If the problem is deglobalized, as Hardin suggests, the Western world will essentially be turning its back on the problem it created. The demographic transition theory, which Gerard Piel supports in his article, offers up a more educated solution to the population problem. The theory claims population growth is related to economic achievements; the more advanced countries increase their life spans, enabling more people to mature to the reproductive years, which in turn leads to an increase in population growth. The growth is then kept in check by technological advances, namely birth control, but also by the fact that a smaller family is ideal since agriculture is not the main source of income and more people is no longer more help, just more mouths toShow MoreRelated The Problem of Population Growth and the Solution of Population Planning3072 Words   |  13 PagesThe Problem of Population Growth and the Solution of Population Planning INTRODUCTION Human population growth, overpopulation, and earth’s biological carrying capacity have been concerns of scientists for many years. In 1679 Antoni van Leeuwenhoek estimated that the maximum number of people Earth can support is 13.4 billion and estimates have continued to vary drastically since then (Cohen, 1995). There are many ecological indicators, including desertification and water problems, whichRead MorePossible Solutions to Ease the Growing Problem of Over-Population846 Words   |  3 Pagesof us on a global scale for society. Our population growth has exploded since 1967, let alone back in 1750. Since 1967, the world population has doubled and annually grows around 80 million people a year; that’s around 2.5 people every Second. Societies speculation of overpopulation has went from a probability to a growing fear of what the future may hold for the global economy.
